The Famous Cromer Pier is a Grade II listed, 151 metre long traditional Victorian pier, award winning Pier of the Year in 2024.
One of only five UK seaside piers with a full working, flourishing theatre and home to the only end of pier show of it’s kind in the World! The Cromer Pier Show now in its 41st year has been enjoyed by generations of visitors and has received 5* by the famous “The Stage” A “must see” show for the whole family and should be on everybody’s bucket list.
Enjoy a full day out on the Pier, open all year round! Absolutely the best crab fishing anywhere in Norfolk, with all you need for the big catch, or a souvenir memory to take home with you in The Gift Shop at the entrance to the pier. The Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre is best known as the venue to the ONLY ‘End of the Pier’ show of its kind in the World!, where audiences can be entertained by a line up of traditional variety acts for three months throughout the summer. The Cromer Pier Show, also known as Seaside Special, is one of the few true live variety shows in Britain and it showcases live variety acts at their best. No other pier in the world can boast the same credentials which makes The Cromer Pier Show a ‘must-see’ experience and, as Bradley Walsh recently said: “it should be on everyone’s to-do list”.
Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre has approx. 450 seats making for an intimate experience but drawing quality acts who always enjoy returning to the stage here. In the past we’ve had many now familiar names developing their careers here, including Bradley Walsh who is a staunch supporter of the show, Steve Hewlett, the hilarious ventriloquist, who made it to the finals in 2013’s Britain’s Got Talent, Danny Posthill who also made it as a finalist in Britain’s Got Talent 2015, crazy pair, comedian Phil Butler and comedy juggler James Bustar and with the voice of an angel, singing sensation Emily Yarrow. The Cromer Pier Show is nationally famous as an “incubator” for true, quality talent for dancers, singers, actors, magicians, comedians and other variety acts so, by coming to see the Summer Show, you could be seeing the stars of the future….
The 40th anniversary year of the show in 2017 was hailed as the best ever by the national and local press and in the past few years, top newspaper in the theatre industry, The Stage, awarded the show with a five-star review. Nationally the show was featured in The Times. Locally the Eastern Daily Press and North Norfolk News, BBC Radio Norfolk, ITV Anglia and BBC Look East have also been singing the show’s praises.
Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre also presents a high-quality mix of comedy, music, dance, opera, musicals and community shows. Some of the names that have appeared here over the years include Julian Lloyd Webber, Pam Ayres, Michael Portillo, The Manfreds, Sooty, Pasha Kovalev, winner of Strictly Come Dancing, Jim Davidson, Roy Chubby Brown, Lyn Paul, guest vocalist in our 2014 Christmas Show, Chas & Dave, Blake, Joe McElderry, Marty Wilde MBE, The Searchers and new talent Roving Crows. Our Spring and Autumn concert season boasts more than 50 quality visiting shows, appealing to all tastes and ages.
As well as welcoming visitors to the area, the Pavilion Theatre is a resource for the local community and we welcome community hires as part of our diverse programme of events. These include Folk on the Pier, Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society and The Crab & Lobster Festival.
Sean Garrett
General ManagerSean joined Openwide Coastal in May 2015 originally as Financial and Administration Manager. He was appointed as General Manager at the end of 2022, and his love of the pier and the seaside made the decision to step up an easy one. Born in Norwich, Sean has many years of operational and accounts experience under his belt, previously working for Big K Charcoal Ltd as Office Manager. Sean is the sensible one and a calming influence, even winning the accolade for being “the most likely person to go to in a crisis”. He is a lifelong Liverpool Football supporter… but he can’t help that!
Katherine Robinson
HR & Admin ManagerKatherine joined the Cromer Pier team in 2005 as Shop Supervisor, in the then-newly built Footprints Gift Shop. Katherine trained as Front of House for the very first Christmas Show on Cromer Pier! Katherine is a fountain of all pier knowledge and is heavily involved in the day-to-day functions of the hospitality areas as well as becoming the HR & Admin Manager. Katherine now works part-time (ish) as she has three very lively lads to look after at home.
Phil Broughton
Technical & Production ManagerPhil started working at the Pavilion Theatre in 2005, whilst studying Technical Theatre at the College of West Anglia. He has a wealth of technical knowledge but is primarily a Stage Manager. Phil has worked on Phantom of the Opera in London, as Number 3 Sound and has designed lighting and scenery for various tours and shows. His experience includes working on installations, conferences, and festivals, both in this country and abroad. Phil is known in the local area for providing technical advice, equipment, and props to local events and shows including the church and Cromer Academy. Phil is a daddy to 4 lively little boys so his love for getting dirty, driving off-road in Landrovers has now been overtaken by family time.
Naomi Bushell
Box Office Sales ManagerNaomi started work at the pier as a Box Office Assistant in April 2016. As one of the key staff members helping to get the business through the pandemic, Naomi became the Team Leader then Supervisor, as well as taking on an extended role as the Marketing Assistant before securing her current role. Naomi moved from Derby to Cromer in 2007 after meeting her husband Eddie in Portugal while she was working as a holiday rep. A lifelong love of theatre and live entertainment makes this her dream job.
