Cast interview – Reiss Thomson

Where do you come from and currently live?

I was born in Leicester in 1991 and still live in Leicester (champions of the Premiership!). I don’t even follow football but you’ve got to love the city!

When did you first start performing?

First started dancing when I was fifteen joining a local dance troupe called E R Crew in Braunstone, where I went on to perform in many carnivals and at many local working men’s clubs.

What was your first professional experience?

I started professional training at Leicester College of Performing arts, where I study all ranges of style from ballet to hip hop. After three years of training I graduated and sealed a job with a entertainment agency (Peel Entertainment) where I travelled the world for the past four years visiting parts of the canaries, Mediterranean and the Caribbean on board the Thomson dream and Thomson majesty cruise ships.

Where is the best place you have performed and why?

My favourite place to dance is on the Thomson Majesty in Havana, Cuba. The country is just so refreshing and passionate.

Have you ever had any embarrassing things go wrong during a performance?

My most embarrassing moment would be when I was dancing on the Thomson Dream with a microphone where the clasp holding it in the middle came loose and would not tighten, leaving the mic head around the height of my waist whilst I was in between choreography.

What are you looking forward to most about spending the summer in Cromer?

I am very excited to move down to Cromer and starting working in the Pavilion Theatre and swimming in the sea, which is what I’ll will be doing on my days off.

Who inspired you to do what you are doing?

I was inspired to dance by my friend, who asked me to come with him to his break dancing class, where I met some amazing people and dancers.

Who will be coming to support you this year?

My friends are dying to come and visit me at the seaside. ….
